Specialist Training Courses in Yeovil

Enhanced Recovery Programme.  Since 2002, the laparoscopic unit at Yeovil District Hospital have implemented an enhanced recovery programme for their patients. This has produced excellent results with a shortened post-operative stay  and a very low re-admission rate. The faculty now hold regular courses in the Yeovil Academy to share their expertise with a wider audience.

Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery for Theatre Practitioners  Aimed at all theatre practitioners involved in laparoscopic colorectal surgery, this one day course includes small group training in theatre. Tips and tricks for best practice are also discussed in short, interactive seminars. For dates and booking details click here.

Laparoscopic Colorectal Study Day.  This one day event will combine live operative demonstrations with interactive discussions to tackle issue such as surgical approach, technique, enhanced recovery, results and how to deal with problems.  For dates and booking details click here.

Laparoscopic Ultrasound for Cholecystectomy Course.  The use of laparoscopic ultrasound for detection of biliary calculi has been shown to be more accurate at detecting biliary calculi with higher sensitivity and fewer false positives than operative cholangiography, in experienced hands. In addition, it is safer than operative cholangiogram for patients and the OR team and provides a reduction in theatre time, thus incurring a demonstrable cost saving. This one day workshop will combine live operative demonstrations with seminars to cover interpretation of ultrasound images and tips for use in biliary surgery. GP Update @ YDH  Yeovil District Hospital will provide a series of update sessions to recharge your knowledge and skills throughout 2008.   This programme will provide opportunities to discuss current practice with hospital staff and to network with your peers and colleagues.  The format of each session will be based on panel discussions, short demonstrations and focused question and answer sessions.  Participants will be encouraged to be involved in shaping the content of each session.  For more details  click here
